New Additions to the Yarn Stash

New Yarns

I snagged another skien of Malabrigo Apple Green from The Gourmet Yarn Company. I also grabbed some Cascade 220 to work on making stockings for the girls.

WIP Wednesday Finished!

Kiska's Gnome Hat

I finally finished it this morning!

She is so happy she has a hat......

Just like her Bubby's.:o)

I'm so glad I got this done. For some reason I've been in a crafting funk the last couple of weeks. But I think that it's finally lifting. Now I have to get to work on Auriana's. I think I might save her's for a Christmas present though. We'll have to see.:o)

I am so grateful for waldorf mama's inspiration. Watching my children roam around in something so soft, warm, and super cute that I made for them evokes feelings that are impossible to describe.

But it sure is nice.

WIP "Wednesday"

The progress

It is taking me forever to finish this hat and I'm not sure why. I get frustrated with knitting at night because I'm often so tired my fingers don't want to work properly. I finally gave up on being frustrated at the pace yesterday. I decided that I would just knit a row when I had a chance and not try to "finish" it every time I picked it up.

So far that's been a great strategy. If I stick with that I think I will finish it before this week is up.

Our first try at Kool Aid dyeing our cotton handwork bags

The children wanted their handwork bags to be rainbow like the ones we saw here. Colour Bazaar does some lovely work. We didn't know that Kool Aid wouldn't take to cotton the same way it does to wool. I kept the pink and orange bags for myself and we decided today that we are going to try food coloring this Friday on our handwork day. I hope it works.

A glimpse of our Monday.

Yesterday's Malabrigo Purchase

Our complete Malabrigo stash and the makings of future gnome hats.

An amazing gift from a friend.

The Beginning

Ronan's Gnome Hat

Pattern purchased here.

I am so proud of myself. This is my second "big" knitting project. I made several mistakes, but they were all ones I learned from. I think the next hats will be much easier. I discovered that I can join for knitting in the round and not leave a huge gap. Thanks to the ladies at The Gourmet Yarn Company who gave me some tips and tricks for that. I can't wait to go back there next week to get my hands on some more yummy Malabrigo.

I will be forever grateful to Waldorf Mama for her amazing and inspiring blog. Her beautiful posts are what have driven me to create more beauty for my children. I am not a naturally creative person. This causes me to rely heavily on the glimpse into other crafters lives as I work on building my skills and creating the surroundings for my little ones to grow and learn.

It is for others out there like myself that I create this blog. I watch and read all of these amazing accounts from people about their lives and I always wonder if they struggle like I do. I'm so incredibly ordinary. I have few natural talents. I have to work and study, and try and fail, and try and fail some more before I can create these things that it seems other's do as easily as they breathe.

But mostly it's for myself. It's like the accountability partner that I don't have. I think the children will benefit from me making sure that I have interesting things to post.:o)
